Well that was a blast. 1,200 of you showed the Burlington how to party last night! If you were there, we hope you enjoyed it, if not, make sure you’re first in the ticket queue next year! Sadly not everyone makes it through the evening with their possessions safe and sound, so if you’ve lost your phone, camera, bowtie or dignity at the Bess Ball, head on over to the event page and see if anyone found it.

The most anticipated event on the Trinity Calendar – The Valentine’s Bess Ball 2012 brought to you by DUBES – is back. On Saturday February 11th, over 1,200 people will be coming for one of Ireland’s biggest student society balls.

You can expect one of classiest night of the year and as ever we have even more surprises for you in store. One thing that is no surprise is at 7pm at Bellini’s Bar in the Burlington we will be welcoming everyone for a drinks reception which is often regarded as the best part of the night with lots of things to WOW you. From there we will be escorted to the main ball room which will be taking us for the rest of the night into the early hours.

DUBES are proud to invite you to the first annual DUBES Race Day at Naas Racecourse on Saturday the 21st of January. This time it’s on the weekend so you’ve no excuse to experience the Horse Racing Soc days out that everyone has been talking about.

This is the biggest and best Race Day Horse Racing Soc has organized yet and with DUBES coming along for the ride this time we just couldn’t do things by halves.

Here’s what’s in store…

- THE BIGGEST CORPORATE BOX IN THE ENTIRE PLACE -

JP McManus has a box in Naas,
Michael O’Leary has a box in Naas,
Sheikh Mohammed has a box in Naas,

NONE OF THEM ARE AS BIG AS OURS.

It’s Box Number 1 and it overlooks both the Parade Ring and the Finishing Line where we will be having 4 euro pints flowing all day.

- The DUBES & Horse Racing Soc Best Dressed Competition. -

We’ve got a 75 euro BT Voucher for the best dressed boy and a 75 euro BT voucher for best dressed girl.

That’s not it though, after the event we’re running an event on our Facebook pages to let the people decide who should get Best Dressed. DUBES are giving away a free BESS BALL TICKET to whoever gets the most likes on Facebook after the event. Head to the shops and scour the dresser because winning the fashion stakes at Naas means you’re heading to BESS BALL for FREE!!

- The DUBES & Horse Racing Soc Hype Handicap Hurdle -

DUBES are making history by sponsoring their own race. We’ll be awarding best turned out and presenting the trophy afterwards in a race televised to MILLIONS.

- The DUBES & Horse Racing Soc Arts Block Piggyback Challenge -

If you want 2 free tickets to the races and 50 euro straight into both of your BETDAQ betting accounts all you’ve got to do is take part in our Piggyback race around the Arts Block Square on Wednesday. The race takes place on Wednesday at 2pm with the first pair around the square taking home the prize.

- I’M IN FOR THE GREATEST VALUE DAY OUT I’VE EVER SEEN, WHAT DO I DO? -

We all have to fit into the box so tickets will be severely limited.

Tickets are 10 euro for the day including return bus. Yeah you read that right, 10 euro!

They will be available for sale for the DUBES & Horse Racing Soc stand in the Arts Block between 11am and 3pm on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

Buses leave at 10.45am and will be back in Trinity for 4.45pm.

Christmas is almost here and DUBES looooves Christmas!

To celebrate, we are having a ludicrously Christmassy Christmas Party on the 16th of December! Exams will all be over, all assignments handed in, time to swap pens and highlighters for beers and minced pies.

The Budget is just around the corner and its Fine Gael’s time to shine. Times are only becoming more difficult and this Budget is going to be hugely important for all of us. DUBES and Politics Society have put together a really exciting line-up to give their insights and opinions.

Speakers:

Bobby Kerr, CEO of Insomnia and Dragon on Irish Dragon’s Den
Richard Tol, Economic and Social Research Institute
Kieran Allen, Senior Lecturer, Sociology at UCD
Aidan Golden, KPMG

Each speaker will speak for about 8 minutes and then there will be a chance for Q+A after.
